Careers week14 December 2023 (by admin) |
This summer we held a careers week for pupils from reception to Year 6.
What do you aspire to be and how do you get there? This is a question children at Honley were thinking about a lot last week as part of Careers Week.
Throughout the week, children have been thinking about their future careers and exploring the responsibilities, qualities and qualifications needed in each role. There has been a huge focus on resilience, understanding their own strengths and challenging gender stereotypes in career choices. Throughout the school, children have dressed up, learnt vital skills, and participated in live and virtual visits with professionals from various sectors. We have welcomed a range of adults from different professions and explored what their job entails, with many visitors commenting how engaged and respectful our children were. Every class had their own workshop from Own Futures, exploring things such as careers and aspirations, the world of work, enterprise, preparing for our future and financial literacy. Additionally, children benefitted from the expertise of parents, who volunteered to lead presentations and activities about their own careers. The children gained a great deal from this week, all whilst having lots of fun, and we would like to say a huge thank you to parents and members of the community who gave up their time to support.
